[Feature Alert] Safeguard Your Work with NEW Image Licensing!

by Southie Williamson on May 23, 2024 Reader Disclosure

As a photographer or visual content creator, you know how important it is to protect your work and control how your images and videos are used. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce a game-changing new feature that puts the power of licensing in your hands!

We developed the Image Licensing feature to help you showcase your chosen license type on your website. Now, with just a couple of clicks, you can make it clear to visitors how they can (and can’t) use your work.

Image Licensing in 3 Easy Steps

Set Up Image Licensing in Seconds

To set up your license, simply head to Envira » Gallery Settings and click the Image Licensing tab at the top.

From here, check the box to Enable Image Licensing, add an optional Author/Creator Name, select your desired License Type, and click Save.

It’s that easy!

Choose from a Variety of License Types

With the image licensing feature, you have the flexibility to choose the license that best fits your needs. Whether you prefer a more restrictive or open approach, we’ve got you covered. Here’s an overview of the license types available:

  • 4.0 International Deed (CC BY 4.0)
    • Users can share and adapt your work for any purpose, including commercial use. Requires attribution.
  • NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0)
    • Users can share and adapt your work for non-commercial purposes. Requires attribution.
  • No Derivatives (CC BY-ND 4.0)
    • Users can share your work for any purpose, including commercial use, but they can’t adapt (remix, transform, or build upon) the material. Requires attribution.
  • NonCommercial 4.0 No Derivatives (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0)
    • Users can share your work for non-commercial purposes, but they can’t adapt (remix, transform, or build upon) the material. Requires attribution.
  • ShareALike (CC BY-SA 4.0)
    • Users can share and adapt your work for any purpose, including commercial use, but if they adapt the material, it can only be distributed under the same license as the original. Requires attribution.
  • NonCommercial 4.0 ShareALike (CC BY-SA 4.0)
    • Users can share and adapt your work for non-commercial purposes, but if they adapt the material, it can only be distributed under the same license as the original. Requires attribution.

P.S. Attribution means giving credit to the original creator of the work. When a license requires attribution, users must acknowledge the author/creator, provide a link to the license, and indicate if they changed the original material.

Showcase Your License with Pride

Once you’ve set up your license, it will be prominently displayed below all galleries and albums on your website. This not informs visitors about the usage rights and demonstrates your professionalism and dedication to protecting your creative work.
