by Waseem Abbas on Sep 5, 2018

Do the images you upload to WordPress appear flipped? Sometimes when you upload via your iPhone or another iOS device, the image will be displayed upside down. In this tutorial, we will show you how to fix flipped or upside down images in WordPress.

To fix flipped images in WordPress, all you need to do is follow these two simple steps:

  • Step 1. Install and activate Image Rotation Fixer plugin
  • Step 2. Install and activate iOS Image Fixer plugin

Ready to get started? Let’s go!

Step 1: Install and Activate Image Rotation Fixer Plugin

First thing you need to do is install and activate Image Rotation Fixer plugin. Simply go to Plugins » Add New and type Image Rotation Fixer in the search bar.

Search Image Rotation Fixer

Click on the Install Now button, and then hit the Activate button.

Activate Image Rotation Fixer

Upon activation, this plugin will work with PHP’s Exif extension to automatically fix your flipped or upside down images. If you don’t have any clue what that means, don’t worry. You don’t need to configure any settings… it will just do its thing behind the scenes.

If you have any trouble installing the plugin, check out our guide on how to install a WordPress plugin.

Step 2: Install and Activate iOS Image Fixer Plugin

This step is only necessary if you followed Step 1 and you are still having issues with your images appearing flipped.

To install the iOS Image Fixer plugin, go ahead to Plugins » Add New. In the search bar, type iOS Image Fixer, and it will be displayed below.

  1. After installation, do you have to delete, then re-upload your photos? Installing the plugins has not changed anything for me yet. 🙁
